How Much Is a Tesla Cybertruck and When Is the Release Date?

The Tesla Cybertruck is one of the most anticipated products in history. Elon Musk has been drumming up interest in the Cybertruck for years, particularly after the “armored glass” disaster. The issue is that the Cybertruck has been on the market for over three years and is still not available in the EV pickup category.

In its absence, Rivian and Ford have wrecked havoc and taken over the tiny electric pickup industry. Which raises the question, when and how much will the Cybertruck be available for purchase?

What Is So Impressive About the Tesla Cybertruck?

Elon Musk’s debut of the Tesla Cybertruck stunned the globe, even if it did not go exactly as planned. The Cybertruck was designed to have armored windows that could withstand metal items fired straight at them. However, a big blunder happened on stage on the day the Cybertruck was revealed. The glass smashed, and Elon seemed to be about to fire a large number of workers.

However, in classic Tesla form, the saga heightened the excitement around the Cybertruck.

Memes started to pour, and the media went insane. The following day, everyone was talking about the Cybertruck and how it had a little window issue. However, the vehicle drew a lot of attention, as it deserved. The Cybertruck was (and continues to be) unlike anything we’d ever seen before. The design was straight out of a science fiction film, and the performance figures the vehicle promised were as impressive.

The Tesla Cybertruck Promises Phenomenal Performance

The Cybertruck motto is the first thing you’ll notice when you visit Tesla’s official Cybertruck page.

It has the practicality of a truck yet the performance of a sports car.

Leaving aside Tesla’s dislike for commas, what they were offering was unprecedented at the time, with performance ratings equivalent to high-performance EV vehicles. The Cybertruck boasted incredible performance numbers that could compete with Ferraris and Lamborghinis while pulling large loads and offering insane payload capacity.

The Cybertruck even featured a custom-built ATV that was powered by the EV pickup truck. As the ATV was dubbed the Cyberquad, the naming convention was genuinely Tesla. However, a lengthy period passed with no sign of the Cybertruck’s release. The Cybertruck’s numbers are impressive, particularly considering when it was initially presented. Tesla predicts a payload capacity of 3500 pounds and a towing capability of 14,000 pounds or more. These figures are impressive for any vehicle, but they are quite astounding when you know that the Cybertruck is also expected to accelerate to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds.

Is the Cybertruck Better Than the Rivian R1T?

That quick and towing capacity should not be possible for the Cybertruck. That’s what everyone assumed. Enter the incredible Rivian R1T. It would be an understatement to say that the R1T has stolen some of the Cybertruck’s thunder. To begin, the Rivian may be set to pull an absurd amount of weight, 11,000 pounds to be precise. In addition, the Rivian may be optioned to speed to 60 mph in 3 seconds. If this seems to be a declaration of war by Rivian, it is not. The Rivian, you see, is a real thing.

Rivian provided all of this in a vehicle that you can really see traveling about in the real world, while Tesla promised the wildest figures in the world paired with fantastic usefulness. After the release of the Rivian with its quad-motor AWD, the wild statistics that the Cybertruck promised no longer appear so outlandish. It would be fascinating to see if Tesla changes these figures and produces something more insane that completely kills the R1T.

When Will the Cybertruck Go on Sale?

This is an excellent question. Of course, with Tesla, nothing is definite in terms of product launches. However, there has lately been fresh confidence that the Cybertruck will be on sale in 2023. Musk guaranteed a mid-2023 debut for the Tesla Cybertruck during the company’s annual shareholder meeting (see video below) at the company’s new Gigafactory in Austin, TX, while indicating that manufacturing will begin at the Austin factory.

The vehicle will be manufactured at this plant in the middle of next year… We will be adding manufacturing machines in the next months.

If Elon is correct, the Cybertruck will undoubtedly make a splash when it appears next year. The only issue is that the initial frenzy around the vehicle has subsided. Regardless, Tesla understands product marketing better than other firms.

How Much Will the Cybertruck Cost?

The Cybertruck was intended to be a low-cost electric pickup truck for the general public. This looked a little far-fetched, particularly given that the Cybertruck was constructed of stainless steel and had protected glass. Not only that, but the Cybertruck had distinctive aesthetics and massive off-road wheels. Even on the single motor model, air suspension was standard.

Not to mention the ridiculous performance stats the Cybertruck boasted at debut. Regardless, the Cybertruck was scheduled to be sold in three pricing ranges, according to Kelly Blue Book. The single-motor model will set you back $39,900. The future EV pickup truck’s two motor variant cost $49,900. The most costly Cybertruck (the tri-motor type) was to cost $69,900.

At these pricing, the Cybertruck is an excellent deal, particularly when compared to the performance numbers of competing electric pickup trucks now on the market. However, it is exceedingly doubtful that the Cybertruck would sell for these prices when it is released. Elon Musk mentioned again at the annual shareholder meeting that the pricing and features of the Cybertruck would change. Realistically, a Cybertruck for $39,900 does not seem feasible.

Cybertruck pricing was announced in 2019, with a reservation fee of $99. Because a lot has changed since then, the specifications and cost will be different. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I don’t believe anybody could have predicted the level of inflation and other troubles that we’ve witnessed.

All Signs Point to a 2023 Release for the Tesla Cybertruck

The Cybertruck is one of the most eagerly awaited products in history. Hopefully, Tesla will be able to complete the necessary preparations in time for Cybertruck manufacturing to begin in 2023.
